Now, it's time to actually write the email. If you are not good at this, hire someone who is. Your message is important. But, just as important is how that message is constructed. It should be short and to the point…calling for some sort of action on the part of your target. And, pay special attention to the subject line. If your subject line doesn't immediately capture your target, your email will probably get trashed.
When should you send your message? It depends on your target and when they are most likely to receive and respond to your message. Some say that the best time is in the middle of the week and the middle of the day. Others say that the best time is in the evening. I say you really need to think of your target audience and send your emails according to when you are most likely to reach them.
When you plan to send your emails, you will definitely want to consider finding out what the CAN-SPAM laws are and how they apply to your direct email marketing campaign. Spamming involves sending unsolicited emails. Many of your customers are probably opt-in customers if they have not let you know that they are not interested in receiving emails from you, however, you must be clear on who those customers are. Be sure to include an unsubscribe link in your email messages to give your customer the option to not receive emails. There are huge penalties for "spamming".
